Silk facts about India

India is the world's second-largest producer of silk after China. India's silk industry was estimated to be worth USD12.5 billion in 2013. It is also the world's second-largest exporter of silk after China. India consumed 36,000 tonnes of silk in 2013, accounting for over 50% of global consumption.
